For bankruptcy clients

Understand your payments.
Know what participation means.

Your participating bankruptcy law firm may share this page to explain a proposed payment-reporting program. Only participating firms—not individual visitors—can offer and submit an eligible client's voluntary election. BK Aftermath does not enroll or bill individual clients.

How the Program Would Work ↓
Proposed client experience

Learn the process through your law firm.

BK Aftermath contracts with participating law firms only. If approved, your firm may independently offer eligible clients the option to participate, collect the required election and disclosures, and submit authorized records to BK Aftermath. BK Aftermath administers reporting workflow for the firm, not a direct consumer service. Participation does not promise that a tradeline will appear or that your credit score will improve.

01 · Eligibility review

Confirm the underlying obligation

Your law firm and program administrator review the agreement, payment history, bankruptcy timing and applicable reporting eligibility. Some accounts cannot be reported.

02 · Firm-issued disclosures

Review your firm's terms

Your participating law firm would provide approved program disclosures and explain any fee that the firm independently establishes, as well as billing, cancellation and refund terms. BK Aftermath does not set or collect client fees. No enrollment is available while approvals remain pending.

03 · Verified account activity

Actual payments, not promises

Eligible data must reflect what really happened: scheduled amounts, payments, missed or late payments, adjustments, account balances and corrections as applicable.

04 · Ongoing oversight

Review, correct and dispute errors

If an authorized program launches, your firm handles the participation election and any firm-issued client charges. Appropriate reporting corrections and disputes remain subject to applicable legal channels; your statutory rights continue.

Important: A signed payment agreement is not automatically reportable. Some attorney fees incurred before a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing may be discharged. Different issues apply to postpetition arrangements and Chapter 13 cases. Participation cannot turn a discharged debt into a valid reportable obligation.
For clients referred by a participating firm

One proposed program. Your own law firm.

BK Aftermath is designed to work with multiple independent bankruptcy practices. Your law firm may share this informational page with you; the service is not exclusively associated with any one firm. Your attorney continues to manage your bankruptcy case and existing attorney-fee agreement.

01 · Participating firm

Introduces the option

Your participating firm may refer you to this informational page and, only after approval, explain its own participation terms.

02 · BK Aftermath's role

Supports the firm

BK Aftermath processes law-firm-originated account information under approved contracts. It does not enroll consumers, issue consumer invoices or publish consumer pricing.

03 · You

Make an informed decision

You may ask your participating law firm about eligibility and any future voluntary election. You cannot enroll independently through BK Aftermath's website.

Transparent fees

Who decides whether there is a participation fee?

BK Aftermath bills participating law firms only. Each participating firm independently decides whether to charge its own clients, subject to legal, attorney-ethics and bankruptcy requirements. The firm—not BK Aftermath—would explain and administer any approved charges in its own disclosures.

Any client charge comes from your participating firm

BK Aftermath does not enroll or bill individual consumers. No program enrollment or production reporting is currently authorized. If a paid program is offered, the agreement will explain the exact one-time and recurring fees, services included, refund and cancellation provisions, and how charges relate to any underlying attorney-fee obligation.

There will be no individual enrollment or payment options on this BK Aftermath website. Any future enrollment is handled exclusively through an approved participating law firm.

A fee paid to your participating firm does not purchase positive credit reporting, bureau acceptance or a credit-score increase. Fees cannot turn an ineligible account into an eligible one.

What may appear on a report

Truthful reporting is not always positive reporting.

Where furnishing is authorized and accepted, the account history may reflect on-time payments, late or missed payments, balances, payoff and other accurate status changes, as appropriate to the type of account and bureau requirements.

There is no guarantee that a participating credit bureau will accept the account or that an account will improve a credit score. Credit scoring depends on many factors outside this program.

Consumer rights and safeguards

You keep your reporting rights.

  • Information must be based on the actual agreement and substantiated records.
  • Errors must be addressed through applicable dispute and correction procedures.
  • Participation must not require inaccurate reporting or waiver of statutory consumer rights.
  • Private information should only be collected through an approved secure process.
  • You may request information about what a proposed fee covers before agreeing to any paid service.
Questions clients ask

Frequently asked questions

Will joining automatically improve my credit score?

No. Eligibility, bureau acceptance and credit scoring are separate issues, and no score improvement is guaranteed.

Will every payment be reported as on time?

No. If furnishing is authorized, reporting must follow real payment activity. Delinquencies and other unfavorable but accurate statuses may be reportable.

Can a discharged attorney-fee debt be reported as collectible?

A discharged obligation cannot be treated as a currently enforceable debt solely because a payment schedule exists. Bankruptcy counsel must review the facts before any proposed furnishing.

Can I sign up through BK Aftermath?

No. BK Aftermath serves participating law firms, not individual enrollees. Only a participating firm may offer and submit a future voluntary client election, and the proposed program is not yet approved for enrollment.

Is BK Aftermath the law firm that filed my bankruptcy?

No. BK Aftermath is developing an administrative service for participating law firms. Your attorney or law firm remains your point of contact for legal advice about your case and fee agreement.

Program availability

Ask your participating law firm about eligibility and availability.

This is an informational page for clients referred by participating bankruptcy law firms. Your law firm—not BK Aftermath—would determine whether to offer participation, disclose any of its own charges, obtain your voluntary election, and submit an eligible account when authorized. Contact your participating firm for details. No direct BK Aftermath enrollment exists.
